Patricia L. (Grafmyer) Shawver, 87, of McClure, went to be with the Lord at 1:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 28, 2022, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born in Lewistown on Nov. 21, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Dorothy P. (Boreman) Confer and stepdaughter of William R. Confer. Her husband, George M. Shawver, 51 years, whom she married June 12, 1954, passed away on January 16, 2005.

She is survived by three children, Franklin Shawver, of McClure, Jeffery Shawver, of McClure, and Cindy (Shawver) Sunderland and husband, Rex, of McVeytown; five grandchildren, Kyle Shawver and wife, Megan, Jillian (Shawver) Wright and husband, Derrick, Mara Sunderland, Levi Sunderland, and Jacob Sunderland, who were the apples of her eye; five great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.

As an active member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alfarata, she served as President of the Shining Star Sunday School Class, member of the church choir, and church treasurer, as well as the leader of the annual Shrove Tuesday donut making.

Pat was a Lewistown High School graduate, Class of 1954.

Patricia was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and hosting family and friends for meals and Penn State tailgate parties. She was also an avid crocheter making special afghans for all her grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed by many, especially her family.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

A second viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. Michael Sigler and Rev. David Pennebaker officiating.

Interment will take place at St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery, Alfarata Road, Lewistown.

A special thanks to Pat’s wonderful and compassionate caregivers over the years; Rosemary, Emily, Alyanda, Flettah, and Kim.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Pat may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 573 Alfarata Road, Lewistown.

Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.hellerhoenstinefuneralhome.com.
