Gerald “Jerry” E. Carlson, 90, of Warren, Pa., died Sunday morning, Nov. 20, 2022, at the home of his daughter, Kathi Goodwill. Jerry was born March 3, 1932, in Rew, Pa. He was the son of Algot Clifford and Vera Leona Paterson Carlson. Jerry had resided in Warren, Pa., for the past 70 years.

He was a graduate of Bradford High School, Bradford, Pa., and earned his accounting credentials from Warren Business College. Jerry was employed as an accountant with several businesses including Nefglo and the former Valentine Disposal. He shared his talents as an accountant for the Warren County Fair Board for many years.

Jerry also had his own accounting firm for private citizens. He was an active member of First Salem (Covenant) United Methodist Church, where he was a proud member of the Persuader’s class, led the youth group, and served on the church council. He had served as treasurer on the Warren County Housing Authority Board of Directors.

He enjoyed square dancing, traveling, camping, hunting, and fishing. His gardens were a Pine Street legend, with bumper crops that fed family, friends, and neighbors. He was also a member of the Warren Photography Club. Jerry and his wife, Nadine, especially loved spending winters in Florida with Nadine’s siblings and many Warren friends.

He showered his family with unending love and support and a great sense of humor. He was a kind and gentle father, generous with his time and willing to help however he could. A true Swede, he loved his coffee and chocolates and was never caught without hard candy in his pocket. His (explosive) stories of his childhood and youthful shenanigans kept family and friends entertained for years.

He is survived by his five children, Vicki Iannuccillo and husband, Emilio of Bristol, R.I., Kathi Goodwill and husband, Steve of Warren, Pa., Cindi Reid and husband, Bob of Erie, PA., Keith Carlson and wife, Cathy of Summerville, S.C., Judi Danielson and husband, Gregg of Warren, Pa.; two sisters, Marlene Gray of Northeast, Pa., Karen Mellors of Ripley, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great -granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Nadine Dolores Flanders Carlson, whom he married Sept. 12, 1953, in Sawyer, Pa., who died Nov. 9, 2019; two brothers, Melvin and Kenneth Carlson; a sister, Virginia Shaw; a grandson, Kevin Goodwill; and a great grandson, Gabriel Reynolds.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Friday, Nove. 25, 2022, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, 1624 Pennsylvania Avenue East, Warren, Pa., followed by a funeral service with the Rev. Ralph Culp, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park, Warren, Pa.
