GOWANDA — Clarence A. Monnin Jr., 92, passed away at home surrounded by family Sunday morning, Nov. 27, 2022.
Born in Lancaster , N.Y., Jan. 2, 1930, the son of Clarence A. Sr. and Ceclia (Ott) Monnin.
Clarence honorably served with the U. S. Army during the Korean War.He married Sharon K. Harper at St. Joseph’s RC Church in Gowanda, Oct. 24, 1964.
Clarence was a member of St. Joseph’s RC Church, Gowanda, and a life member of the James Cruden VFW Post 5007 also of Gowanda. Some of Clarence’s past and present memberships include the Gowanda Moose Lodge 1382 and the Gowanda American Legion Post 409.
Clarence retired from the former Moench Tanning Company of Gowanda after over 47 years of employment. At the time of his retirement he worked in the finishing department on the Sheridan Machine
Survivors include his wife, Sharon K. Harper Monnin of 58 years; children; Yvette (Dave Covert) Keefe of Hamburg, Lynette (Kenneth) Slocum of Gowanda, Pamela (Sam) Castellano of South Dayton and Kevin (Nicole) Monnin of Gowanda. Grandchildren: Ashley, Megan (Justin Law), Michael, Brittany (Brandon) Dustin (Amanda), Emily, Evan, Jordan, Kevin Jr., Joey, Hayley, Zachary and Nick. Great-grandchildren; Zayne, Ally, Madisyn, Braylee, Austin, Kane, twins: Bailee and Brooklyn, Kyle, Trent Natalie and Richard. Several nieces and nephews also survive .
Besides his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his siblings: Eugene, Jerome, Leonard, Theresa and Cecilia Jane; along with a great-grandchild, Benjamin.
A private family graveside service with full military honors will be held at the Jolls Cemetery in the town of Perrysburg .
Arrangements are by the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda .
