COS women’s basketball tops Riverside 

College of the Sequoias women’s basketball defeated Riverside 72-63 on Nov. 17.

Alana Roberts (Sierra Pacific) led the way with 29 points and 14 rebounds, followed by Maria Dias with 14 and Geizzle Jones scoring 10.  

The Giants (7-0) have won seven in a row, and they will next play College of the Canyons at home on Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. on the opening night of the Tom Gilcrest Invitational Tournament.  

COS men’s soccer season comes to an end

COS men’s soccer lost in the first round of the playoffs 2-1 to the Cañada Colts in a game that went into double overtime.

The Colts scored the final goal in the 115th minute of the game, which was the deciding goal.  

Felix Zarate (Farmersville) scored a goal in the 52nd  minute on an assist by Joshua Aguirre. The team finished 10-7-4 on the year. 

COS men’s basketball hangs tough with state No. 1

The COS men’s basketball team snapped its 4-0 start to the season this past weekend in the COS Giant Classic, losing 83-80 to LA Southwest on Nov. 17. The next day, the Giants would go on to lose against No. 1 Fullerton College 67-61.  

Javohn Garcia (Brewster Academy) dropped 40 against Southwest and another 24 against Fullerton.  

The other high scorers of the weekend included Tyjean Burrell (Antelope), who put up 20 against Southwest. Terri Miller (Clovis North) scored 18 against Fullerton.  

The men’s squad’s next home game will be nearly a month from now, on Dec. 16, against Cerritos College.   

COS women’s soccer season concludes in playoffs  

The COS women’s soccer season came to an end on Nov. 16. The Giants lost 2-0 to Evergreen Valley.  

Litsy Munoz (Mission Oak) and Adania Macias (El Diamante) scored over 10 and led the team. They finished the season 10-9-1.
